  • Temporary Business Administration Instructor

    Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology announces an opening for a temporary full time position from August 14, 2014 to December 15, 2014 in Business and Administration.    This instructor will teach courses on Basic Financial Accounting, Organizational Behavior, and Office Procedures. 

    Teaching hours are Monday to Friday 7:30am - 12:00p.m. Additionally, a minimum of three hours each week for office availability for students. 

    Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in in a business field with knowledge in basic financial accounting procedures and office automation processes.  A Masters’ degree in the field of Business is desirable.

    The candidate should possess a minimum of 3 current years of teaching experience in the fields identified above, or provide requisite field equivalent experience to substitute for teaching experience.

    Salary and rank for the position is determined on the basis of academic and professional experience as projected on the College’s Faculty Association contract.  Application materials must include a cover letter, a current resume, and academic transcripts, and or applicable work credentials.     BUAD 106 - Accounting Principles I - M,T,TH,F - 7:30-9:00 AM: Introduction to the principles of accounting, the accounting cycle, the interpretation and recording of financial data, and the summarizing and reporting process. Emphasis is on accounting for sole proprietorships . This course provides a foundation for further study in the accounting field.  

    BUAD 216 - Office Procedures - M,T,TH F - 9:15-10:30 AM: Development of skills needed to function effectively in the daily operations of contemporary business offices.  Prepare to work in a business environment and to assume a broad range of tasks requiring excellent planning, organizing and critical thinking skills.  A capstone project, such as an office simulation, may be used in this course.

    BUAD 221 - Organizational Behavior - M,T,TH,F - 10:45 AM-12:00 PM: This course is a study of workplace behaviors, structures and processes. Self-analysis and reflection are practiced in small groups through case studies, surveys, and discussions. Motivational theories and leadership styles are surveyed; decision making and business designs and cultures are investigated.

    BUAD 226 - Business Skills Lab - W - 7:30 AM - 12:00 PM: Work in a laboratory setting to complete program assignments and projects.  

    Administrative Assistant for the Office for Student ServicesThaddeus Stevens College of Technology is seeking an Administrative Assistant for the Student Services Office. This position reports directly to the Director for Student Services who oversees several offices including Athletics, Student Organizations, Women’s Center and Student Conduct. Individuals should possess excellent skills in the following areas: verbal and written communication, organizational, multi-tasking, and computer programs.

    Working knowledge of Jenzabar, Microsoft Office suite, and other office software preferred. Additional attributes sought are confidentiality, ability to be flexible, and ability to work with students from a diverse social-economic background.

    Cross Country Head Coach

    Adjunct Faculty PositionsThaddeus Stevens College of Technology announces the opening of several adjunct instructor positions at the College. The following classes (with days and times) are available:

    • DENG 12 - Concepts of English - Tuesdays/Thursdays- 8:00-9:15AM
      • Remedial/developmental course.  Intensive review and drill in grammar, usage, sentence/paragraph construction, and vocabulary development.  For students whose test scores and/or writing performance indicate need for improvement in basic composition skills.
    • DMAT 010 - Fundamentals Of Math- Mon/Weds/Fri - 8:00-8:50AM
      • Development and improvement of math skills. Fundamentals of Mathematics covers whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percent, measurement, and various other essential topics. For students whose test scores indicated the need for development and/or improvement in fundamental math skills, course must be taken before MATH 126: Technical Mathematics I or MATH 111: Business Mathematics.
    • ENG 106 - Composition I - Mon/Weds/Fri - 8:00-8:50AM
    • ENG 106 - Composition I - Mon/Weds/Fri - 1:00-1:50PM
      • Develops fluency in writing.  Creates interest in and respect for proper usage, sentence structure, and precise expression.  
    • Math 131H - Intermediate Algebra - Mon/Weds/Fri - 10:00-10:50AM 
      • This course reviews the structure and use of algebra through a combination of topics including polynomials, first-degree equations, quadratic equations, exponents, radicals, and systems of linear equations.  Graphing first and second-degree equations is emphasized.
