DCIS 011
Computer Concepts
Students are introduced to the fundamentals of personal computers, concepts and terminology. Topics presented are hardware components, Internet search techniques, security, ethics and current technology developments. Fundamentals of current software applications are presented in operating system file management, word processing, spreadsheet and presentation programs. Includes hands-on, practical in-class activities and extended assignments. Designed for those with little or no computer experience. This course serves as a foundation for CIS 111.*

DENG 012
Concepts of English
Remedial/developmental course. Intensive review and drill in grammar, usage, sentence/paragraph construction, and vocabulary development. For students whose test scores and/or writing performance indicate need for improvement in basic composition skills. Should be taken before ENG 106.*

Developmental Reading
Remedial/developmental course. Development and improvement of reading skills.*

DENG 015
Technical Reading
Remedial/developmental course. Development and improvement of reading skills in technical programs.*

DMAT 010
Fundamentals of Mathematics
Remedial/developmental course. Basic mathematics course. Whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percent, measurement, and various selected topics.*

DMAT 030
Introduction to Algebra
Develops fundamental algebra skills necessary in vocational/technical occupations. Topics include real numbers, solving first degree equations, exponents, polynomials, and factoring.
Prerequisite: DMAT 010
or score of 20 on the numerical portion of the ASSET
evaluation.*

DSOC 010
Success Strategies
Encourages students to live healthy life-styles, develop academic skills, foster habits of punctuality, and maintain good attendance records in all classes. Time management, positive attitude, and goal orientation are also covered.*
