Tyco Foundation Awards a Grant Challenge:
The Tyco Foundation has awarded the Thaddeus Stevens College’s Machine Tool & Computer- Aided Manufacturing Department a $20,000 Challenge Grant to be used toward the purchase of a much needed Wire EDM Machine for the department’s Lab. The award is contingent on the College’s ability to secure an additional $ 80,000 for the purchase the machine.
Already, another donor has stepped forward to match and exceed Tyco’s $20,000. However, the remaining $50,000 remains to be secured. Gifts of all monetary sizes are welcomed.
Keeping up with the modern technology found in today’s workplace is a priority for the College in its commitment to produce well trained and ready-to work graduates.
“We are very appreciative of the Tyco’ Foundation’s commitment to the College’s Machine Technology Department and its encouragement to secure the needed funds,” commented Department Instructor, Tom Dennes. “Many of our graduates find the need to have experience on a Wire EDM Machine. We currently do not have one in our Lab. Recently we have been fortunate to have a company allow us to bring the class to their plant for the need training experience. However, the ideal is to have the machine in our Machine lab. The Tyco grant is a major step toward this goal and will help us tremendously in preparing our graduates. We would like to be able to secure this equipment during the next several months."
If you are interested helping the College and the Machine Tech department secure this equipment and meet the Tyco Foundation Challenge, you can designate through "Make a Gift" at the bottom of this page or contact Allen Tate in the Development Office, tate@stevenscollege.edu or 717-391-7285.
