Certificate Program
Description: This 63 hour course is designed as a general introduction to the basic tools that are used by a carpenter with an emphasis on safety, proper usage and procedures, and various applications that are most commonly used in the carpentry trades. In addition, this course will cover the wide range of building materials and the many different types of wood products used to the newest technology of steel framing. Reading and dissecting a set of blueprints will also be emphasized.
Description: This 63 hour course is an introduction to residential and commercial wiring practices and techniques. Topics will cover basic symbols, blueprint reading, wire diagramming, and use of applicable National Electrical Codes that are associated with the installation of basic faculty electrical circuits, boxes, light fixtures and ballasts, and the effective troubleshooting of electrical circuits. Basic electrical safety will be emphasized.
Description: This 63 hour course familiarizes students with the proper selection and use of the basic tools and materials of the plumbing and pipefitting trades, with an emphasis on safe work habits. The following topics will be highlighted: Identifying, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing valves; troubleshooting and repairing clogged drains; troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing plumbing fixtures and faucets; troubleshooting and repairing damaged and/or leaking pipes and pipe joints; and water heater repair and installation. In addition, identifying and locating plumbing system components on commercial blueprints will be covered.
Description: This 63 hour course will provide the student with a general knowledge of the different aspects of maintaining an efficient, effective building HVAC Maintenance program. Information will be presented about proper maintenance and installation techniques involved with all HVAC equipment in a building. Preventive Maintenance procedures and techniques will be emphasized, along with the current BOCA building code and OSHA requirements.
