Thaddeus Stevens Names Stone Head Basketball Coach

Central Penn Associate Head Coach to Lead Program

Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology is turning to a former Elizabethtown College assistant to lead its basketball program. The College on Wednesday named Kenneth Stone its head coach.

Stone most recently served as associate head coach and offensive coordinator at Central Penn College in Summerdale, Pa. Previously, he spent four years on the coaching staff at Elizabethtown College.

Being the head coach at Thaddeus Stevens “gives me a chance to be a positive influence for young men in the same way my coaches were influences for me,” Stone said. “I’m particularly grateful for the ability to work with kids who are like me—who grew up under resourced, or who may not come from the ideal family background.”

Stone is a 2014 graduate of Penn State Harrisburg, where he played varsity basketball for four years and was named team captain for the 2013-2014 season.

He inherits a team that went 8-16 last season, including 6-10 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC), but finished the year winning four of its last five games. The team will return its two top scorers from the previous year in guards Mason Mossert (26.5 ppg) and Marqel Wansley (24.3 ppg).

“There is a lot of excitement for the potential of this program and where I believe it is headed,” Stone said.

Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology is consistently ranked as Pennsylvania’s top technical college and awards associate degrees in 22 high-demand, skilled occupations. A full listing of programs is available at www.StevensCollege.edu.
