The evening’s highest honors went to sophomore Jonah Longenecker, who received the prestigious Richard V. Bevilacqua Award for Most Outstanding Sophomore Athlete, and Davian Waite, who earned the John C. Stauffer Award for the sophomore who contributed the most to athletics.

“These awards represent more than athletic achievement—they recognize students who embody the Bulldog spirit of determination, teamwork, and excellence,” said Athletic Director and Vice President of Student Services, Dr. Chris Metzler, during the ceremony. “Our student athletes demonstrate the same commitment to success in sports that they bring to their academic commitment.”

Building Character Through Athletics

The ceremony also included recognition of 38 sophomore athletes who received award plaques for their contributions throughout their time at Thaddeus Stevens College. These awards highlight the College’s commitment to developing well-rounded students who excel both in their technical programs and extracurricular activities.

“Athletics at Thaddeus Stevens College is about more than winning games—it’s about building character, teamwork, and leadership skills that translate directly to success in high-demand careers,” noted Dr. Metzler. “The dedication these student athletes show on the field mirrors the hands-on commitment they bring to their technical education.”

The Complete College Experience

The Athletic Awards ceremony underscores Thaddeus Stevens College’s commitment to providing a complete college experience that balances rigorous technical education with vibrant campus life. Student athletes develop valuable skills in time management, teamwork, and perseverance that complement their technical training and prepare them for success in the workplace.

Coaches, assistant coaches, athletic volunteers, and college leadership joined the student athletes in celebration, along with friends and family members who have supported them throughout the season.

The Bulldog community congratulates all award recipients and thanks them for representing TSCT with pride both on and off the field.
