At Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, creating access to opportunity means building pathways to family-thriving wages. This summer, that mission expanded through a partnership with Esperanza Tec Centro Philadelphia, a new bilingual workforce training center helping adults connect to high-demand careers. Through the collaboration, Thaddeus Stevens College provides curriculum, faculty expertise, and program leadership for four technical training programs designed to transform futures and strengthen communities.
Expanding Opportunity Through Partnership
Located on Esperanza’s multi-services campus in North Philadelphia, Esperanza Tec Centro Philadelphia is the newest site in the growing Tec Centro Workforce Network. Developed through a collaboration between Esperanza, the Tec Centro Workforce Network, and Thaddeus Stevens College, the center combines community-based support with industry-focused technical education to create meaningful career pathways for unemployed and underemployed adults.
The partnership extends Thaddeus Stevens College’s commitment to educational access beyond the Lancaster campus, connecting more Pennsylvanians to opportunities that can change the trajectory of their lives.
Training for Real-World Results
Esperanza Tec Centro Philadelphia welcomed its first students in July 2026 and offers training in Metals Fabrication and Welding Technology, Commercial Industrial HVAC, Commercial Industrial Plumbing, and Facility Maintenance Technology.
These programs reflect the same principles that define a Thaddeus Stevens education: hands-on, practical learning, instruction guided by industry experience, and a direct connection to career success. Students gain the skills needed to pursue employment in industries with strong workforce demand and opportunities for advancement.
Strengthening Communities Through Education
The center is expected to train about 100 individuals annually while serving more than 360 people through education, career navigation, and supportive services. Participants have access to adult basic education, English as a Second Language instruction, workforce readiness support, and technical training designed to create lasting economic opportunity.
By combining workforce education with Esperanza’s broader network of community services, the program helps students overcome barriers and move confidently toward their goals.
