Dr. Pedro A. Rivera II, president of Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, has been named to City & State PA’s Who’s Who in Labor 2026, recognizing leaders who are shaping Pennsylvania’s workforce and advancing opportunities for workers across the Commonwealth. 

The annual list highlights individuals whose work is influencing labor, workforce development, and economic growth throughout Pennsylvania. City & State notes President Rivera’s commitment throughout his career to expanding equitable access to education and preparing students for sustainable careers through hands-on training and workforce-focused programs. 

A first-generation college graduate and lifelong educator, President Rivera has led Thaddeus Stevens College’s continued growth in two-year degree and certificate programs that connect students with high-demand careers. Prior to becoming President, he served as Pennsylvania’s Secretary of Education. He also serves on the Pennsylvania State Board of Education, where he chairs the Council of Higher Education, and is a member of the newly formed State Board of Higher Education. 

At a time when employers across many industries face workforce shortages, Thaddeus Stevens College is helping meet critical labor needs through programs in manufacturing, construction, business, design, information technology, and transportation. Students benefit from more than 22 hours each week of hands-on lab instruction led by industry-experienced faculty who bring practical expertise and employer connections into the classroom. 

The College’s commitment to workforce development extends beyond its degree programs. Through certificate programs, dual enrollment opportunities, professional development offerings and training provided by the Workforce and Economic Development Center, Thaddeus Stevens College creates pathways for individuals seeking new skills, career advancement and economic mobility.
