Thaddeus Stevens College Joins Pennsylvania Academic Libby Consortium to Expand Digital Resources

Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology is partnering with six other Pennsylvania colleges to launch the Pennsylvania Academic Libby Consortium, a collaborative initiative that will significantly expand digital library resources for students and employees across participating institutions.

The consortium brings together Central Penn College, Luzerne County Community College, Harcum College, Keystone College, Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, Susquehanna University, and Wilson College to share electronic library resources including ebooks, audiobooks, and digital textbooks through the Libby platform, a library partnership available as both a mobile and desktop app. The effort was partly spearheaded by a librarian at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, Cassandra Dwyer!

This partnership reflects Thaddeus Stevens College’s ongoing commitment to removing barriers and creating access to the tools students need to succeed. By pooling resources across seven institutions, the consortium gives students access to a dramatically broader catalog of digital materials than any single library could provide alone.

The Libby platform offers features that directly benefit students. The user-friendly interface works seamlessly on mobile devices and desktop computers, ensuring students can access materials anywhere – whether in the classroom, at home, or on the go. This flexibility supports the varied schedules and learning styles of technical college students who balance rigorous hands-on programs with academic coursework.

Audiobooks represent a particularly valuable addition to available resources. Students and faculty have consistently requested audio content, and the format offers practical benefits for learners who commute, work in labs, or prefer audio learning. The consortium will also expand access to recreational reading materials, supporting student wellness and the complete college experience beyond technical education.

Students and employees at Thaddeus Stevens College can access materials by downloading the Libby mobile app and adding Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology as a library card option.

This partnership represents another example of how Thaddeus Stevens College works strategically to maximize resources and create opportunities for students. By collaborating with peer institutions across Pennsylvania, the College ensures students have the tools they need to excel in their programs and prepare for high-demand careers, all while maintaining the grit that defines technical education.
