TSCT Student Excels on National Stage and Earns Congressional Recognition

Ashley Miller, a second-year student in Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology’s Metals Fabrication & Welding Technology program, recently showcased her skills at the 3M Clash of the Grinders competition at Fabtech in Chicago. Competing against peers from across the country, Ashley advanced through three rigorous rounds of welding, beveling, and prepping for paint, all under a demanding 20-minute time limit for each task. Her precision and efficiency earned her an impressive second-place finish at the national event!

Ashley’s success reflects the hands-on, industry-driven training students receive at Thaddeus Stevens College, preparing them to thrive in high-demand fields. Beyond the competition, her achievement has also been recognized at the highest level: Congressman Lloyd Smucker formally entered a statement into the Congressional Record celebrating her accomplishment and has invited her to meet with him to receive this recognition in person.

This milestone underscores how TSCT students gain real-world experience that opens doors to opportunity, whether on the job site, in advanced competitions, or from national leaders. Ashley’s achievement is both a personal victory and a proud moment for the entire Bulldog community.
